Dua to Read When Visiting The Rawdah Mubarak Of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW)

Once you have finished the sacred rituals of pilgrimage, it would be highly beneficial to utilize the remaining time to pay a visit to the Rawdha Mubarak of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) located in the magnificent Masjid Nabawi of Medina, Saudi Arabia.

Throughout the ages, devoted followers of Islam have upheld a beautiful tradition of paying respects to the resting place of Allah SWT’s cherished Messenger (PBUH). This act involves offering Salam and seeking the Prophet’s intercession on the forthcoming Day of Judgement.

The city of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) is a good place to go where you are going to earn great rewards. It is the land of the Chosen Prophet, the place of Hijrah and victory and the home of the Ansaar where the Sahaabah migrated.

Dua to Read When Visiting Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) Grave

When you reach the Masjid Al Nabawi, you should enter with your right foot first and say,

Transliteration: “Bismillaah wa’l-salaatu wa’l-salaam ‘ala Rasoolillaah. Allaahumma ighfir li dhunoobi waftah li abwaab rahmatika. A’oodhu Billaah il-‘azeem wa bi wajhihi’l-kareem wa bi sultaanihi’l-qadeem min al-shaytaan il-rajeem”

Translation: “In the name of Allaah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allaah. O Allaah, forgive my sins and open to me the gates of Your mercy. I seek refuge in Allaah the Almighty and in His noble Face and in His eternal Power, from the accursed Shaytaan.”

When visiting the Rawdha of the Prophet (SAW), one should come near the grave, then face it and say:

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ

Transliteration: “Al-salaamu ‘alayka ya Rasool-Allaah”

Translation: Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allaah.”

You can also say:

Transliteration: “Assalaamu ‘alayka ayyuha’l-Nabiyyu wa rahmat-Allaahi wa barakaatuhu. Allaahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhammad kama salayta ‘ala Ibraaheem wa ‘ala aali Ibraaheem, innaka hameedun majeed; Allaahumma baarik ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhammad  kama baarakta ‘ala Ibraaheem wa ‘ala aali Ibraaheem, innaka hameedun majeed. Ashhadu annaka Rasool-Allaah haqqan wa annaka qad balaghta al-risaalah wa adayta al-amaanah wa nasahta al-ummah wa jaahadta fillaahi haqqa jihaadihi. Fa jazaka Allaahu ‘an ummatika afdal ma jaza nabiyyan ‘an ummatihi”

Translation: “(Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allaah, and His blessings. O Allaah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon Ibraaheem and the family of Ibraaheem, verily You are Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. O Allaah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibraaheem and the family of Ibraaheem, verily You are Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. I bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allaah, that you conveyed the message and fulfilled the trust, and advised the ummah and strove truly for the sake of Allaah. May Allaah reward you on behalf of your ummah better than any Prophet is rewarded on behalf of his nation).”

Then, you should move about a yard to the right and say Salam to Abu Bakr by uttering:

السَّلَامُ عَليْكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ

Transliteration: “As-salāmu ‘alayka yā Abā Bakr”

Translation: “Peace be upon you, O Abu Bakr.”

Then you should move about another yard further to your right and say Salam to ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab, by saying:

السَّلَامُ عَليْكَ يَاعُمَرُ

Transliteration: “Al-salaamu alayka ya ‘Umar.”

Translation: “Peace be upon you, O Umar”
